The Pedalsmith is the successor of the original high headroom, high output pedal platform able to handle any combination of pedals you throw at it. The unique Hiwatt preamp and tone stack compresses and distorts much later than its contemporaries, so boosts and overdrives will actually boost your signal output instead of turning into mush. The Custom Super-Hi circuit was Hiwatt’s entry into the high-gain amp market and was quickly taken up by tone connoisseurs such as Josh Elmore (Cattle Decapitation), Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem), and Ben McLeod (All Them Witches). Legendary amp designer Mike Fortin took our classic DR504 chassis and hotrodded it into a firebreathing monster; now the Super-Hi 50 and Super-Hi 33 are bringing those ripping tones to the table at a lower price point.

With two channels of cascading valve gain and channel-independent switchable Super-Hi Boost, you have four levels of overdrive and volume at your disposal, plus a passive effects loop before the pin-sharp Hiwatt power section to keep your modulation and delays clean.

Both the 33 and 50 models come with ‘oversized’ transformers for extra low end and output before reaching saturation. The Super-Hi 50 keeps the EL34 tubes found in its Custom Super-Hi older brother for 50 watts of high output without breaking up or sagging.

The Super-Hi 33 pairs the famously clean and responsive Hiwatt power section with a cascaded gain preamp. Based on the Custom Super-Hi amplifier, this circuit was designed to be the ultimate modern gain machine. Two channels with gain and volume controls, plus an independent 'Super Hi' boost to push them into meltdown, puts four levels of gain and volume at your disposal. The Super-Hi 33 uses oversized transformers and 6V6 tubes in the power section to deliver the powerful but articulate bass response of a larger amp at lower volumes.

With all that cascaded filth in the preamp, we have also added a clean and quiet post-preamp FX loop to keep your modulation and time-based effects clean and clear. A true gain monster.

P45 Classic (1964-66)

45-Watt Park w/ Tube Rectifier

For Artists and players looking for classic Blues and rock guitar tones, the Park P45 is a fantastic choice. This classic Jim Marshall circuit built off of the original Fender Tweed Bassman has been heard on many of the most influential recordings from the mid- sixties up to the present day. A pair of KT66 power tubes in the circuit’s output section deliver a ‘sound that is balanced, dynamic, and complex in its response to the player’. This tube rectified amp now comes standard with PPIMV (Post Phase Inverter Master Volume) which allows the player to overdrive the amp at lower volume levels.

P50 Classic (1966 Black Flag Plexi)

50-Watt Park w/ Tube Rectifier

The Park P50 circuit with tube rectifier and EL34 power tubes is ‘Warm but aggressive’ (Warmer tube saturation and tighter filtering than the original P45). Legendary EL34 power tubes add colour, and focus in the mid frequencies, while a tube rectifier provides a bit of ‘squish’ or compression when the amp is pushed. The Park P50 (“Black Flag” Plexi) nails the bite and aggression that players like Angus Young love and the EL34 power tubes have played a large part in creating the de facto ‘British Tone'. Two differently voiced channels (one brighter) add flexibility and player/guitar options. Since the Park P50 has the early version of Jim Marshall’s 50 watt plexi circuit, the bright channel still gives you plenty of bottom end so you do not have to jump channels for a full sound.

Mitch Colby has added two push/pull pots for greater flexibility - one is an upper mid boost that affects both channels - the other applies independent bright cap values to both channels simultaneously - a more ‘brilliant’ design feature? Of course it’s a Park!

This tube rectified amp now comes standard with PPIMV (Post Phase Inverter Master Volume) which allows the artist/player to overdrive the P50 at lower volume levels - or crank the Master Volume to effectively remove from the circuit!

The Park Little Head is based on the early plexi Parks P45 (the famous Bluesbreaker circuit). A studio recording artists ‘tone chasing’ dream amp. A favorite for pedals. The Sound that Defined 70s Rock

The Park P50M is the first split cathode amp by Jim Marshall allowing channel one to be significantly brighter and cut through the mix - a small change to a classic design with really big results. Increased filtering added a more immediate player response and a stiffer feeling from the power section. This circuit went on to define 70's rock and created the sonic landscape most people/players associate with Park/Marshall Amps. The P50M amp circuit defined a whole generation of music and was the bridge between the Park 45 and the Park PMV (Cascading channels and a Master Volume).

P50B Super Bass (1968)

50-Watt Park with Super Bass Preamp

Originally built to handle bass but often favoured for guitar by artists like Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top, the Super Bass was Jim Marshall's first amp which used a solid state rectifier. As well as the solid state rectifiier, the Super Bass also features slightly higher filtering giving a more immediate and 'tighter' playing feel than the regular P50.

Our reproduction is based on the legendary JMP Bass (Model 1986) built around 1968 which has influenced countless players and is heard on albums from the late 60's until today. Given the many variations in any Park or Marshall circuit over the years, the particular amp we chose to reproduce was used and loved by the late, great Dan Achen of the band JunkHouse and was the go-to favorite house amp in the Catherine North Studios, Hamilton.

The handwired Park Master Volume. When Marshall famously linked the Master Volume’s channels the JCM800 was born - this Master Volume circuit would become ubiquitous in rock music through the 70s and 80s and set the benchmark for a generation of high-gain Rock and Metal guitarists. The PMV800 builds on this legendary foundation using high quality handwired components and adding features that allow an even greater range of tonal options to this famous circuit. With a Post-Phase Inverter Master Volume, an effects loop, gain and tonal mods, and high-spec components and transformers, the Park PMV800 is a unique rock machine. The PPIMV (Post-Phase-Inverter Master Volume) allows guitarists to drive the power section harder at lower volumes - this feature is removed from the circuit when turned fully open. A Bright switch has been added to turn off the amps ‘stock’ bright cap to remove unpleasant high end (depending on guitar/pickups), a Mid-Boost for varying levels of thickness, and a three way Gain Switch which offers both lower and higher levels of gain than ‘stock’. Please note that all additional features can be ‘turned off’ or removed from the circuit allowing the PMV800 to return to ‘stock‘ mode for vintage correct feel and response.

Custom Motto Oto Boost

The Motto Oto comes from Hiwatt’s Japanese heritage - developed in the 80’s as the preamp of the Hiwatt Custom Tape Echo, this circuit is capable of producing a wide variety of sounds. A single transistor at its core allows this circuit to be easily pushed from clean boost mode, through light overdrive, to full blown distortion.

The Motto Oto preamp is not your typical boost pedal. Touch sensitive and very dynamic; placed in the proper hands this sonic blade is a joy to wield.

Custom Shop Fuzz Sound

A rare and original Park circuit from the 60’s with modern updates. This circuit uses original spec PNP Germanium Transistors - this time paired with a voltage inverter circuit so the pedal can be used on mains power instead of a battery.

Our pedal also offers an extended fuzz range for greater control, better clean-up, and more control over your tone. This circuit also offers additional volume on tap compared to original examples.

This Classic Fuzz circuit became popular in the late 60’s and early 70’s before a revival in this millennium as original units became difficult to find. It sounds even better today - a must-have for aficionados of vintage fuzz who already have the usual suspects and want something authentic but different.

Custom Shop Muff Sound

The Muff Sound is based on the early ‘Rams Head’ Muff fuzz with the addition of a variable ‘Mid’ control, using the same distinctive model transistors used in the original to reproduce the lower compression characteristic of this pedal.

Unlike the typical hugely scooped tone associated with the Big Muff circuit, the original Rams Head intentionally filtered out low end frequencies that caused the sound to become muddy and had lower gain values than typical of modern circuits. Although our Muff Sound is still capable of very high gain, the transistors used in this variation of the circuit offer slightly less compression and a more open sound. The result is subtle but gives the Muff Sound its own character, especially when used with lower gain settings and boosted with other pedals before or after the fuzz unit.

Alongside this lower compression, the addition of the Mid control also gives you more control over your tone, and together reduces the risk of disappearing in the context of a full band (always a risk with more scooped Muff circuits).

Custom Shop Supa Sound

Marshall’s Classic early fuzz circuit which famously offers ‘more bass’ than its close contemporaries, for a thicker sound.

In the late 60's and 70's players would often go through dozens of fuzz pedals to find a unit biased to their liking or intended use. With the addition of a Transistor Bias control, today’s player can achieve multiple great tones simply running the sensitive PNP Germanium transistors hot or cold. Adjust the Bias pot to go from spitty to smooth to spitty again with many great incremental effects in between.
